Preparation for Birth Workshop

Spend a few hours with your birth partner discussing (and trying out if you want) techniques that you may choose to use during your labour and birth.  An opportunity to explore the birth process, the role of your partner or birth supporter, and then think of what tools you might like to put in your personal basket.  I can tailor the content of this workshop to the needs of those attending.

Workshop can run on a Saturday, or over two evenings.

Workshop provisionally at Portrush Town Hall, or Peter Thompson Hall, Castlerock, if enough interest.

Postnatal Yoga

This course is focused on the new mother, together with her baby.  Use the breath to initiate healing and toning.  Find your new alignment, and work with movements to help open your shoulders and chest, release tension, and to bring awareness to your pelvic and abdominal area.  Explore ways to feed and hold your baby that help you feel comfortable, aligned, and supported.  Try out playful, uplifting ways of integrating stretches, movement and breath into your life with your baby.  Use relaxation to connect deeply with yourself, and with your baby.  No previous yoga experience needed.   Class most suited to mums from birth and with babies up to a year old (though classes will be arranged so similar aged babies are together) This can also be offered as a few one to one sessions.

Classes provisionally at the Portrush Town Hall, or Peter Thompson Hall, Castlerock if enough interest.

Baby Massage and Nurture

Nurture your young baby as she transitions from womb to world through gentle, massage, movement, and closeness.
Positive touch strengthens your bond with your baby and helps you trust your knowledge of his cues, likes, and dislikes.
Relaxation helps settle the nervous system for both you and your baby.
At Bump And Baby Yoga we understand your baby may not choose to fit in with our time schedule so please feel free to come along and meet your baby’s needs during the class (e.g. feeding, changing, sleeping, soothing)

This class is most suitable from 8 weeks to 6 months.

Course running Mondays (11:30-12:30/45) for 5 weeks starting Sept 21st and again November 2nd at Portrush Town Hall.

Additional course may run at Sandcastles Day Nursery, Ballymoney, in Novemeber.  Please register with Sandcastles.

Parent and Baby and Parent and Toddler Swimming

Even if you don’t swim, or particularly like water yourself, it’s an opportunity to playfully interact with your baby in a new environment, and to impart water confidence from an early age.  Water supports and moves us in different ways, and it’s really interesting to explore our reflexive and learned movement patterns in the aquatic environment.  We incorporate song and rhyme at times, and use relaxation techniques in water (yes, it can be done!) Water parenting is an extension of baby nurture and baby yoga, and can allow your baby a unique freedom of movement.  At each session we highlight and start the foundation of water safety skills, but the main focus is, as always, reading your baby’s cues so you can both be at ease and find enjoyment in water.  Submersion (going under) for your baby (and you if you want) is explained and offered, but never expected. All moves and activities are continually a choice for you and your baby.

This class is most suited for babies over 12 weeks old (due to water temperature, earlier water experience can be done together in the bathtub) and up to pre-school age.  Classes will be structured in similar age groups.

No class scheduled at the moment, but if enough interest I can put one on. 5-6 week block.

Mobile Baby, Toddler, and Pre-school SMART  (Stretch, Move, and Relax Together)

At this stage of your baby’s development, she or he grows in social and emotional intelligence, gains new physical skills, strives for increased independence balanced with desire to remain close.  Share a playful, joint practice to build on communication, wonder, balance, mobility, trust, and understanding.  Use song and rhyme as a way to help communication, rhythm, familiarity, and fun.  Wind down with relaxation to settle.  No previous yoga or bendy-stretchy ability needed.

Classes provisionally at the Portrush Town Hall, or Peter Thompson Hall, Castlerock  if enough interest.
